Our next issue: April 2022
Our Savior spoke these words to Martha as she grieved the death of her brother Lazarus. They are ones we often hear at Easter time, or during our own times of grieving. They encompass the Gospel in its simplest form: Jesus conquered death for us. As we travel our earthly pilgrimage, may we hold fast to this promise of Jesus for the comfort, joy, and assurance of Heaven it gives.
The theme for our April issue will be based on John 11:25: “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” Take some time to study this section of Scripture in which Jesus faces the death of one of His dear friends. Consider that you are His dear friend as well, and the resurrection promises are meant for you and all who believe. Write down your thoughts and send them in!
Some ideas to get you started are: What times in your life have you leaned on this passage for comfort? How has this promise of Jesus given you hope in times of doubt? What opportunities has the Spirit given you to be a witness to others about the resurrection of Jesus? We learn from Mary’s example that we should put time in the Word above all else, what can we learn from Martha’s example in this account? What other bible stories or hymns bring out this theme?
As always, we welcome all articles–whether or not they are written to theme. Simply share what is on your heart and it will no doubt be a blessing to others. Other great ways to contribute to The Branches are: Sisters Shine, With Her Hands, Words of Wisdom, Bible Study Takeaways, Delicious Dishes, Mission News, and Snapshots From Around the CLC. However you choose to contribute, we look forward to hearing from you!
All articles are due February 10.

Hesitant to write?
We have been blessed with many talented writers—all of whom began as readers! If you enjoy reading The Branches, consider sending in something to share with the rest of us. It does not have to be on the theme; that is simply a jumping point if ideas are needed. If you are not interested in writing something from scratch, consider submitting a favorite recipe for the cooking section. Other ideas may be a book review, craft idea, memory, humor, favorite verse, description of an event at your congregation, or photos you’ve taken.
